Hi! We're Emily and Jess – the faces behind Something Good Workshops (although we have very few photos together!)
We often describe ourselves as enthusiastic hobbyists, and we mean that in the best possible way. We get genuinely excited about learning new crafts, trying weird techniques, buying just one more colour of embroidery thread, and convincing everyone around us that they should have a go too.
Something Good started with a simple idea: making things makes people feel good.
Not because everything has to be perfect, or because you need to be naturally "creative", but because spending a couple of hours making something with your own hands can be a brilliant antidote to the pace of everyday life.
We've both experienced how creativity can lift your mood, quiet a busy mind, build confidence and bring people together. We wanted to create a space where anyone could experience that - whether you've never picked up a paintbrush before or you've got a cupboard full of half-finished craft projects at home.
So we opened our studio in the heart of Deptford Market Yard, a place we absolutely love. Deptford is creative, welcoming, brilliantly independent and full of character, and we couldn't imagine being anywhere else. Our workshops are our little contribution to the neighbourhood: a space where people can slow down, chat, laugh, learn something new and leave with something they're genuinely proud of.
You'll find everything from lino printing and embroidery to painting, paper crafts, knitting, screen printing and wonderfully niche creative workshops led by brilliant guest artists. We believe there's a craft out there for everyone - you just might not have found yours yet.
Whether you come on your own, with friends, for a date night, a birthday, or simply because you've been meaning to do something for yourself, we'll be there to welcome you.
