Loose Threads is a quiet, creative gathering for people who want to connect in gentle, low-pressure ways. Each month, we’ll meet to spend time with thread, yarn and fabric: sewing, mending, embroidery, knitting, crochet or just messing about with scraps and colour.
The club isn’t about expertise. It’s about using our hands to ease any nerves or anxiety – to open up conversation, soften silences and make it easier to be together. We’ll welcome messiness, play and the beauty of things unfinished.
I hope people show up with curiosity, kindness and openness – to stitches that go wonky, to conversations that meander, and to the joy of weaving connections one thread at a time.
✨WHAT TO EXPECT
✔️ Each gathering will be simple and free-flowing.
✔️ We’ll settle in, share materials, and choose what we feel like working on – mending a sock, learning a new stitch, following a tutorial or just playing.
✔️ Sometimes I might bring a prompt or a theme to spark conversation, but there will always be space for companionable silence too.
✔️ The club will evolve depending on who’s there and what people bring with them.
✔️ It’s not a workshop – it’s a place to make, chat, rest and connect, with no pressure to perform or produce.
✔️ I hope that over time, familiar faces will return and friendships will grow – but the space will always be carefully held so that any newcomer feels just as welcome as someone who’s been before.
🎒WHAT TO KNOW OR BRING
✔️ Bring along any thread, yarn, fabric, needles or projects you’d like to work on.
✔️ If you don’t have anything, don’t worry – I’ll always bring a small bundle of scraps and supplies to share.
✔️ You can absolutely just bring a notebook to doodle or sketch if that feels better for you.
ABOUT YOUR HOST
I’m Susannah, a Londoner, writer, facilitator and community-curious soul. As an introvert and someone who’s navigated shyness and social anxiety, I know how important it is to have spaces that feel safe, playful and welcoming – without pressure. I’ve spent the last few years creating and hosting groups for quiet, sensitive people who want to build confidence, connect and share in creative ways.
Hosting a Club feels like a natural extension of this work – and also a personal joy. I love handcrafts, and I love the way that doing something tactile with your hands can make conversation feel easier and more spacious. There’s a special kind of intimacy in sitting side by side, letting silences stretch as stitches accumulate – or threads get tangled ;)
To me, Loose Threads is about creating a gentle pocket of community in this big complicated city: a place where people can arrive as they are, experiment without judgement and leave feeling lighter, connected and maybe with a few stray threads in their pockets.
