In this 3 hour workshop, you’ll be guided through the creative and satisfying process of lino block printing - from initial idea to final print.
We’ll start by exploring different approaches to designing lino blocks, with a special focus on how to create satisfying repeat patterns. Whether you’re drawn to bold shapes, intricate detail, or abstract motifs, you’ll learn how to turn your ideas into printable designs. Then it’s time to carve! You’ll be shown the basics of lino cutting - from using the tools safely to achieving clean, confident lines.
Each participant will design, carve, and print two 7.5 x 7.5 cm lino blocks of their own. We’ll print your blocks onto paper during the session, and you’ll leave with your carved blocks, your prints, and a handy pamphlet explaining how to repeat and combine your designs in future projects.
Best of all, your lino blocks can be used again and again – on paper or fabric (with the right inks) - and we’ll talk through ideas for how to continue printing at home.
