Join us for a 6-hour creative retreat dedicated to the magic of lino reduction printing in London, a more advanced, richly rewarding printmaking technique that lets you build up layered artworks from just one lino block. This day is designed for anyone who has tried lino before.
Over the course of the day, you’ll learn how reduction printing works, step through a quick demo to understand the rhythm of carving–inking–printing, and experiment with designing and carving your own piece. You'll leave with new confidence, skills, and your own layered reduction print to take home.
This retreat takes place in our bright Deptford studio, just steps from the cafés and restaurants of Deptford Market Yard. With an hour’s lunch break, you’ll have time to explore.
What to expect:
Understanding the principles of lino reduction printing.
How to reduce and simplify images for multi-layer printing.
Colour planning and how to think in overlapping ink layers.
A guided demo reduction print to see the process unfold.
Designing and carving the first layer of your own block.
One-to-one support as you experiment with colour, registration, and sequencing.
